Splash Pads Opening Date!

All 9 Burlington splash pads will be open on Saturday, May 17, 2025!

Dofasco Waterjet Plaza (aka Spencer Smith Park Splash Pad)

Located at 1340 Lakeshore Road

The Spencer Smith Park Splash Pad is possibly Burlington’s most famous spot in the summer. The picturesque location is frequented by locals and tourists from surrounding cities. The 30 waterjets spray intermittently and at different heights for kids to laugh and run through, while parents can sit on the perimeter in the sun or shade and watch their kids. The Spencer Smith Park splash pad is free to use, although parking is sometimes tricky and can cost you depending on the time of day you visit. The playground is right beside when you need a change of pace. Washrooms and a snack bar are just inside the building adjacent to the pad.

Spencer Smith Park Splashpad, also known as Dofasco Waterjet Plaza

Mountainside Pool and Splash Park

2205 Mount Forest Drive.

Recently renovated and even more fun for families! Mountainside Pool now offers a corkscrew side and a climbing wall that drops you right into the deep end of the pool! Families with young kids will appreciate the gradual beach entry in the shallow end. Cool down with the gentle sprinklers in the shallow end as well. Kids of all ages will love the dumping bucket in the splash pad section.

Hidden Valley Park Splash Pad

Located at 1137 Hidden Valley Road.

This splash park in Burlington is one of our favourites. Visitors can easily spend the entire day enjoying the playground, the spray pad and the picnic space. Water jets shoot up from the pad that is surrounded by a park, greenspace, Hidden Valley Creek, and a covered gazebo perfect for a picnic. Plenty of other picnic tables around the park. The park is also home to the Burlington Model Railway Club. Ample parking and washrooms on site.

LaSalle Splash Park and Wading Pool – Opening June 14, 2025

50 North Shore Blvd.

LaSalle Park Wading Pool is a top choice for so many families. The wading pool ranges from half a foot deep to 2.5 feet deep, and kids of all ages love it, so it’s ideal for a group outing. Both adults and children pay admission (adults are no longer free). You can even rent the wading pool for a private party! Washrooms and picnic spots on site.

Nelson Pool and Splash Park – Opening May 24, 2025

4235 New Street, between Guelph Line and Walkers Line.

The city’s pool and splash park combo are always suggested as a parent’s favourite outdoor pool in Burlington. The gradual entry pool is large and bright, with clear eye-sights from one end to the other. The spray pad is separated from the pool and includes a huge dumping bucket that is a hit with all kids. Lots of water jets and fun accessories in the splash park. The pool has diving boards and a rock wall that is excellent for your little daredevils. There are many lifeguards on duty, and both shady and sunny spots to set up camp.

Bolus Garden Parkette Spray Pad

Brant Hills Park, behind the Community Centre, 2255 Brant St

This is a new splash pad in the Brant Hills community area with above-ground water play features. There are a variety of seating options, including accessible metal tables with umbrellas and Adirondack chairs.

DesJardins Park Splash pad

1811 Imperial Way

This new splash pad is in a recessed area surrounded by benches and asphalt pathways. Picnic tables, a shade structure and a drinking fountain with water bottle filler (and a pet bowl for your furry friends) make it the perfect getaway!

Ireland Park Spray Pad

2315 Headon Forest Drive

Water jets spray from the concrete pad and concrete wall. Nearby are the tennis courts, playground and sheltered pavilion. Picnic tables available and washrooms are close by. Lots of green space and parking.

Millcroft Park Splash Pad

4250 Millcroft Park Drive.

This Burlington splash pad features water jets from the concrete pad. With umbrellas, a pavilion and a seating area. Tennis courts and a playground nearby. This park is free to attend and washroom facilities are available.

Norton Community Park Splash Pad

3040 Tim Dobbie Drive

Norton Park splash pad in Burlington is huge in size and full of things to encourage kids to have fun. The round splash pad has water jets and is right beside a park, skate park, and green space. The Haber Recreation Centre is across the spacious parking lot, which gives you washrooms, indoor gyms, basketball courts, and the library. This may need to be a 2-day trip!

 Orchard Community Park Splash Pad

40+ indoor activities For a Rainy Day

Play at an Indoor Playground

Indoor playgrounds are the popular group when it rains (or freezes) out. They offer a plethora of high-energy ways to help kids be active from giant tube slides to ball pits to climbing obstacles. If you’re looking for a great curated list of area indoor play centres and trampoline parks in Halton or indoor play centers and trampoline parks in Hamilton and Niagara, you know we can help!

Read our Feature articles:

Catch a Family Flick

Is there a better rainy day indoor activity than watching movies? I think not. Cineplex SilverCity Theatres have “Stars and Strollers” showtimes weekly. Guests and their kiddos watch a new release film with your little ones. With a little more light, lower sound, and $2 off the regular admission, it’s a great deal! Visit CineStarz on Brant Street or Film.ca in Oakville for second run shows at a deeply discounted price. Don’t worry, the popcorn is just as delicious as the larger theaters! And don’t miss out on Oakville’s Movies for Mommies where the sound is lower, the lights are a little brighter, to make your movie-with-baby date all the more enjoyable.

We’ve collected some of the best family-friendly children’s museums and galleries in our region. Whether you want to know more about life in pioneer and early industrial times, famous sports personalities, appreciate works of art, dabble in hands-on experiments and science, planes, trains, automobiles and even secret passages, these family destinations will help you do just that.

Indoor Fun For Sports Fans

Looking for some high-energy competitive fun for the whole family? Maybe something quieter and suited to all ages? We got you! Our curated guides to rainy day activities Hamilton, Burlington, Niagara and Oakville will connect you with the best hands-on entertainment around!

Stores Worth Visiting: Toys Stores, Pet Stores and More!

Take a wander through some retailers who cater to kids and families. Shop at a local toy store from our list here.

Toy Stores – Every toy ever made seems to be at the toy store. Enjoy some time in every aisle checking out new toys and games, and adding to your child’s wish list. Just remember, you may not get out without making a purchase.

Pet Stores – Little animal lovers will enjoy walking through the aquarium section to check out the aquatic and bug life, and through the cat adoption centre, too. They may even get to pet or feed an animal friend!

Have a Sweet Treat – Whether you want ice cream, doughnuts or french fries, our lists of the best places to get each will help!

Malls – The stay at home parents’ quintessential rainy day activity, and for a good reason. Temperature controlled, ample coffee shops, and you can always find a sale and a friend to stroll with. Bring some loonies to Burlington Mall and the kids can ride the coin-operated rides. And both Oakville Place and the Milton Mall has been known to host kids events as well.

Visit IKEA – It’s Swedish For Fun!

I cannot tell you how excited my youngest was when she was finally tall enough for the Burlington IKEA’s Smōlland (that’s the name of their supervised kids area). Their kid’s centre is fabulous and free, but so is their kid’ department with all of the toys out on display. A great time to get some gift ideas! Plus, they IKEA has great deals on kids meals, too!

Ontario EarlyON Centres

The Ontario EarlyON Centres (formerly known as Early Years Centres) saved my sanity in those early days/months/years of parenthood. I played with my new baby, met new parents who I still connect with today, and kept going until my kids were in school full time. Whether it’s for a drop in play time or one of their organized pre-registered programs like Mother Goose, we are so fortunate to have the ROCK Ontario Early Years Centres. Click the link to find the centre closest to you.

Get Thrifty

Fancy yourself a DIYer? Love up-cycling? Or maybe you just like checking out trash-turned-treasures? Pop in and see if you can score an original Rubik’s Cube, Malibu Barbie, or some Muppet Show VHS tapes. Plus board games and books are a steal. Visit a local thrift store or charity shop and score a great deal. Your donations and purchases help our community.

Hop A Ride On Public Transit

Hop on the city bus and tour around Burlington, Oakville, Waterdown, or Milton. Transit is fast, reliable, and clean, and makes a great sightseeing bus. Plan your tour through Burlington , Milton, Oakville, or Hamilton. This was always one of our favourite rainy day activities in Burlington!

Stay Home: More Indoor Activities To Pass The Time

Upcoming Indoor Events From Our Calendar

If you’ve ever caught yourself asking “Is there a board game cafe near me?” then keep this list handy for some serious fun in the near future.

What is a Board Game Cafe?

A board game café is a spot much like. coffee shop or dessert bar where you can play board and card games. Most cafes also served food and drinks. Visitors generally pay a fee (per person or per table) and have access to a huge assortment of board games. The staff are super fans and often recommend games and help you with gameplay and instructions. Many board game cafés also sell the games.

Playing board games have always been something fun to do with family and friends, but it can get pricey if you want to play a new game every few weeks. That’s where game cafes shine. Game Cafes We’ve Been To

In our travels, we have visited 2 board game cafes in Hamilton and 1 in Toronto. We love this low-key rainy-day idea that doesn’t cost much. You can get an entire afternoon of fun for your whole family, with drinks and snacks, for less than $50.

Never Board Games Lounge in Hamilton was out most recent visit to a cafe. With over 900 games to choose from, we tried so many and founds some new faves that we added to our Christmas list. Food drinks and alcohol are available on site. You can also play game in their 2 themed private rooms to really get that immersive feeling.

Mancala Monk board game cafe in Hamilton, was the first one we ever visited. My kids were 8 and 10 and had a ton of board game options. I loved that they could cruise the wall of games and choose any box they wanted to try. Their short attention spans meant we played half of each game we choose, but with over 1400 games to choose from, we were never board.

  • Season: Cherry picking season in the Niagara Region typically runs from late June to early July. The exact timing can vary depending on the weather and growing conditions, so it’s always a good idea to check with local farms for the most accurate dates.

Types of Cherries

  • Sweet Cherries: These are the most common type found in the Niagara Region. They are usually available from late June to early July.
  • Sour (Tart) Cherries: These are typically available a bit later than sweet cherries, often in early to mid-July. Sour cherries are great for baking and preserves.

What to Bring

  • Containers: Many farms provide containers for picking, but it’s a good idea to bring your own sturdy containers or baskets, especially if you plan to pick a lot.
  • Sun Protection: The sun can be strong, so bring hats, sunscreen, and sunglasses to protect yourself.
  • Comfortable Clothing: Wear comfortable, lightweight clothing and closed-toe shoes suitable for walking and standing.
  • Water and Snacks: Bring plenty of water to stay hydrated and snacks to keep everyone energized.
  • Bug Spray: Depending on the time of day and location, bugs can be an issue, so it’s wise to have some bug spray on hand.
  • Cash: Some farms may not accept credit or debit cards, so bring cash just in case.

Tips for Cherry Picking

  • Check Farm Policies: Each farm may have different rules and hours of operation, so check their websites or call ahead.
  • Arrive Early: The best cherries are often picked early in the day, so try to arrive early to get the best selection.
  • Pick Carefully: Handle cherries gently to avoid bruising them. Twist the cherries off the stems to avoid damaging the trees.
  • Sample Before Picking: Some farms allow you to taste a cherry or two before you start picking. This helps ensure you’re happy with the flavor and quality.
  • Storage: Cherries are best picked fresh and eaten soon after, but if you need to store them, keep them in a cool place and wash them just before eating.

Recommended Farms in the Niagara Region

  • Cherry Avenue Farms: Known for their large, sweet cherries, and they offer a great family-friendly experience.
  • Parkway Orchards: Offers a variety of cherries and other fruits, and has a beautiful setting for a family outing.
  • Peach Country Farm Market: A well-known farm that offers cherry picking along with other seasonal fruits and activities.

Before heading out, it’s always best to check the latest information on the farm’s website or give them a call to confirm the picking schedule and any special requirements or events they might have.

Enjoy your cherry picking adventure in the Niagara Region!

There are so many beautiful beaches in Hamilton and Burlington! Most are free or cost a small fee to visit for the day. You can’t go wrong with a trip to the beach near Hamilton or the surrounding area. They are close by, and each offers something a little different from the others.

More Fun In The Water:

Burlington Beach

Address: 1100 Lakeshore Rd, Burlington, ON L7S 1A7 | website

My favourite thing about Burlington Beach is its proximity to my home! This is one of the most popular beaches near me, and we spend a lot of time here every season. This spot is a popular destination, so expect crowds on hot days.

Burlington Beach has a sandy shore and shallow water. You can walk far into the lake and the water won’t go higher than 4 feet.

Plan for a full day at Burlington Beach because they have washrooms, outdoor showers, a snack bar and a playground, too. With its popularity, parking can be difficult. Arrive early to get a parking spot, and if possible visit on a weekday.

You can find the parking prices and restrictions here.

Emerald Lake is a local favourite and our readers thought it was one of the best beaches near Hamilton! It has everything you could want for a day at the beach – and then some! This RV resort and water park is a popular destination for families because of its numerous amenities.

At Emerald Lake, you can enjoy the 5-acre spring-fed lake and the 5-acre spring-fed quarry. The quarry has a water trampoline, a rock climbing wall and a catapult. You’ll also have access to the 2′ deep kiddie pool, the 200′ water slide, their 3,200-square-foot splash pad, beach volleyball courts and a basketball court.

Lakeside Park Beach, Port Dalhousie

Address: 1 Lakeport Rd., St. Catharines, ON, L2N 5B3 | website

This has always been one of our favourite beaches near Burlington and Hamilton. The shallow Lake Ontario water is great for younger kids to play in. The sand was warm and perfect for castle building and beach volleyball. They also have a snack bar in case you forget drinks. The beach itself is free to access, but you do need to pay for parking in the lot.

But possibly the best feature is the working antique carousel at Lakeside Park Beach in Port Dalhousie. It’s over 100 years old and each ride is only 25 cents! This is a staple on the ActiveParents summer bucket list!

Valens Conservation Area

Address: 1691 Regional 97 Rd, Cambridge, ON N1R 5S7 | website

Valens is another one of the Hamilton beaches that has glowing reviews from seasoned campers. Readers raved to us about the facilities and cleanliness. I love the swimming area at Valens. We got multiple times throughout the summer.

Spend the day, or camp overnight, rent a canoe and unwind with the family.

No reservations are required. If the beach reaches capacity, Hamilton Conservation will close the parking lot and beach access. Watch their Twitter page for real-time capacity updates. Admission to the conservation area is required. Fees are: Per 1 vehicle and driver: $16.00, Per passenger over 5 years of age: $5.00, Walk/bike in: $5.00.

Bay Beach – also known as Crystal Beach

Address: 4155 Erie Road, Fort Erie, ON | website

The beautiful, clear waters are where Crystal Beach in Fort Erie got its name. The waters are ideal for canoeing and kayaking, some stand-up paddle-boarding, and swimming. Washrooms and change rooms are available for your convenience. Please leave your pets at home, they are not permitted on the beach.

Non-Residents can purchase a day pass to visit Crystal Beach. When you visit on a weekday, passes are $5 per person. When you visit on a holiday or Friday through Saturday, passes are $10 per person. Children 12 years and under are free.

Turkey Point

Address: 194 Turkey Point Rd., Turkey Point, N0E 1T0 | website

Not exactly one of the beaches near Burlington, but this one comes highly recommended so we added it. Turkey Point is an Ontario Provincial Park and it’s open May 3, 2024 to October 27, 2024. It is a 2km wide beach boasting beautiful sand and ideal conditions for busy families. Turkey Point doesn’t have lifeguards on duty.

Life jackets are available to rent, and both paid and free parking are available close to the beach.

Long Point

Address: 350 Erie Blvd, Port Rowan, ON N0E 1M0 | website

Long Point is another Provincial Park that we highly recommend. I think it’s one of the best beaches near Burlington. Lots of families raved about it and we finally made it there last summer.

The beach is massive and clean, and the Lake Erie water was great. The parking lot fills up quickly, and people come and go all day long. Street parking is also available in various locations. I took this photo below when we were there, and although it looks busy, there was a ton of space. We didn’t have anyone within 10 feet of us the whole time.

Get outside and get active with friends while playing at one of these area disc golf courses.

What Is Disc Golf?

Disc golf is a sport that involves throwing a flying disc or Frisbee into a basket or target, similar to traditional golf where players hit a ball into a hole. The objective is to complete a course with the fewest number of throws possible. The course is typically laid out over a large outdoor area, often in a park or wooded area, and can consist of 9 or 18 holes, each with a designated starting point and target.

Players must navigate various obstacles, such as trees or other natural terrain, in order to successfully complete each hole. Disc golf is a popular recreational activity and there are many courses near us. It’s family-friendly, gets you in the fresh air and makes for a great date night idea.

Fresh snow is on the ground and I bet you’re asking yourself “Are there any tobogganing hills near me?”. There definitely are! This list will be very handy this winter anytime you are looking for a place to toboggan Burlington Hamilton.

Tobogganing is one of the easiest and cheapest winter activities to keep kids entertained on a snowy day. Grab a sled and your snow pants and use our list to find a tobogganing hill in Hamilton and Burlington to visit. We like to choose a new hill each time so we can compare and see which is the best!

These 11 toboggan hills are the city-approved sledding hills in Burlington and Hamilton because the city inspected these locations and determined them to be safest for sledding. Always watch the hills and make sure they’re clear to sled on.

Tobogganing is a Canadian winter pastime that almost makes our frigid winters bearable. While it may look like any hill will work, choose a tobogganing hill that is city-approved as you know it’s a safer alternative to other hills. Get bundled up, and bring your helmets, because you can never be too safe. Here are the designated hills to toboggan near Burlington and Hamilton.

Central Park is one of the tobogganing hills in Burlington

City-Approved Toboggan Hills in Burlington

  • LaSalle Park, at the east of the parking lot. There are 2 tobogganing hills at LaSalle. We like the wide and shorter one as the walk up is easier and the width means less trees to have to maneuver between.
  • Tyandaga Golf Course, at hole No. 4, on the west slope
  • Central Park, the hill northwest of Community Garden. This is a popular spot for us. I like that there is a long flat runoff at the bottom of the hill, with no obstructions. Lots of parking as well.
  • Brant Hills Park and Community Centre, southwest of the tennis courts.
  • Nelson Park, east side of the park, north of Centennial Bike Path
  • Lowville Park, the hill on the southwest end of the park. This hill is very tall and very fast. My young teens went and enjoyed it, but I would be extra cautious with younger ones on the hill.

Related: Make time to ice skate this winter. We know the best outdoor ice rinks for families to enjoy.

City-Approved Hills For Tobogganing in Hamilton

  • Garth and Stone Church Reservoir – 1515 Garth Street, Hamilton – Hill details: Northeast corner, Southern side (East of the parking lot)
  • King’s Forest Golf Course – 100 Greenhill Avenue, Hamilton – Hill details: Hole #9 – in front of the 9th green
  • Waterdown Memorial Park – 200 Hamilton Street, Waterdown – Hill details: Northeast corner, West of baseball diamond #3. This i s a popular sledding spot for all ages. Bring your ice skates and enjoy the skating rink loop, too.
  • Chedoke Golf Course Martin Course – 563 Aberdeen Avenue, Hamilton – Hill details: Martin Course, Hole #10- Tee
  • Dundas Driving Park – 71 Cross Street, Dundas – Hill details: Between the former Parkside Public School and the Dundas Driving Park. Another popular hill for families to enjoy.

The Town of Oakville website didn’t have info on toboggan hills, so it better to assume these locations are city-maintained. I’ve never been to any of these hills, so if you see something unsafe, I would love to know about it. And if you have a location to add/remove, give me a shout anytime. Safety first, always!

  • Bronte Creek Provincial Park – 1219 Burloak Drive, Oakville – Day admission required, but worth it because there is a ton to do (plus washrooms!)
  • Old Abbey Lane Park – 1110 Old Abbey Lane, Oakville – Details: there are 3 hills beside Abbey Lane Public School
  • Oxford Avenue & Upper Middle Road – Southeast corner of the intersection – this is a smaller hill that is great for little ones.
  • Appleby College – 540 Lakeshore Road West – apparently, kids have been sledding here for many years, have you been?

toboggan safely

Here are a few tips to play safely while tobogganing in Burlington and Hamilton.

  • Toboggan during daylight hours, not when it is dark.
  • Toboggan when the hill is snow-covered, not when it is icy or bare.
  • Check the hill and make sure it is free of obstacles and toboggan in the designated area.
  • Wear a helmet designed for winter sports.
  • Use a toboggan that is in good shape and has brakes and steering.
  • Avoid wearing scarves or any clothing that could get caught in a toboggan and cause injury.
  • Always sit down and face-forward on a toboggan.
  • Do not build jumps or other obstacles on the toboggan hill.
  • Walk up the side of the hill and leave the middle open for others coming down the hill.
  • If you fall off of your toboggan, move out of the way to avoid being hit.

Reminder, visiting these sledding hills near me is an activity that you do at your own risk. The city, nor Active Parents, is not responsible for any personal injury or damage to your personal items.

Having fun with kids in tow doesn’t have to cost a lot with these free and cheap things to do in Hamilton.

Hamilton is such an excellent place to explore with kids. The best part is that you can have weeks of fun in the Steel Town without spending any (or much) money at all. Read on to find our best ideas for free and Fun Things to do in Hamilton with Kids.

Skate The Loop in Waterdown

Free   |  200 Hamilton St N, Waterdown, ON.  |   website

The free ice skating loop at Waterdown Memorial Park makes ice skating so much more enjoyable. It is open all winter as long as the ice is frozen and is free to use. There’s a heated building with restrooms to warm up and change into your skates. Parking is great, too.

Hamilton Waterfalls

Cheap   |   various addresses   |   website

There are SO many beautiful waterfalls to see in Hamilton, 100 in fact! And most of them are extremely accessible even with little kids. Here are some of the ones we love the most. Read a little about each waterfall at the link above and plan a great outing.

  • Felker’s Falls
  • Tiffany Falls (paid parking)
  • Devil’s Punchbowl (paid parking)
  • Albion Falls
  • Smokey Hollow Falls
  • Sherman Falls (paid parking)
  • Borer’s Falls
  • Hermitage Cascade (paid parking)
  • Webster Falls (reservation required long weekends May to Sept.)
  • Tew Falls (reservation required long weekends May to Sept.)

Bayfront Park

Free   |  200 Harbour Front Dr, Hamilton, ON

Bayfront Park is located at the base of Harbourfront Drive near Hamilton’s downtown core. A beautiful scenic walk along the waterfront along the paved paths makes for a great stroller-friendly walk with friends and kids. In the warm weather, you can dip your toes into the lake, and in winter you can watch the local birds or enjoy the paved path. It is linked to Pier 4 Park, a great spot to play, by Macassa Bay Walkway.

Walk, Run or Stroll Chedoke Radial Trail

Free

We love this walk in any season. It’s packed gravel so easy to push a stroller along and easy to walk for our family of 4. The incline is enough that you notice it but not enough that it wipes you out. Plus, the views from the top are gorgeous, and the scenery on the way keeps the kids engaged and moving forward. Did I mention the waterfall?! We park at the Chedoke Golf Course (563 Aberdeen Ave).

Gage Park

Free   |  200 Harbour Front Dr, Hamilton, ON

This is a classic Hamilton park and popular destination for so many families, events and more.  A HUGE park with lots to see including outdoor gardens and beautiful water fountains. It also has a large parking lot and a huge walking path all along the outside of the park. Weaving through the park are gravel paths that my kids love biking on. The playground was recently renovated and includes some unique play pieces. Bring your swimsuit in the summer and kids will spend hours in the splash pad.

Visit The Ottawa Street Farmer’s Market

Cheap   |   3 Britannia Drive, Hamilton, ON   |   website

Ottawa Street Farmer’s Market has been a staple in the neighbourhood for over 65 years! The Market is open Saturdays year-round. There are 20+ vendors of local, farm-fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, flowers, honey, eggs, syrup and baked goods. All vendors live within 100 km of the market, so you’re definitely getting local items.  It’s got loads of potential for learning colours, the names of fruits/veggies and counting, for little ones. And kettle popcorn for all!

Have You Seen The Rail Trail Rock Art?

Free   |  20 Kimberly Dr, Hamilton, ON

If you didn’t already know, there is a guy along the Rail Trail by the Kennilworth stairs who started doing rock art to give us hope during COVID times. He has some pretty incredible pieces that he’s done. He only uses items he finds in nature and brings them to life. Your kids will definitely be inspired to make their own nature art when they get home.

Hamilton Farmer’s Market

Looking for laser tag? Our round up will highlight all of the local places to challenge your friends and people you’ve never met before. Whether you’re planning for a laser tag birthday party or are looking for some drop-in high-energy action, here is where you can find the best laser tag near you.

a family playing laser tag

What Laser Tag Exactly?

Laser tag is a high energy indoor game that combines strategy, teamwork, and adrenaline-pumping action. Players gear up with vests and handheld laser devices, both provided by the location you visit. Players then make their way into a dimly lit, maze-like arena looking for the opposing team members.

The primary goal? Tag opponents with laser beams while dodging incoming fire to rack up points and claim victory. It’s a thrilling experience that is fit for various ages, making it a popular choice for birthday parties or just a fun indoor activity.

Looking For Laser Quest?

Laser Quest was a very popular destination for anyone interested in playing some laser tag in Mississauga/Oakville. Sadly, with the varying restrictions and closures, Laser Quest closed all of their facilities in September 2020.

Read More: keep the excitment going when you go head to head at one of these cool video game arcades.

How Old Must Players Be?

Participation isn’t restricted by age. Your kids and adult will enjoy themselves in the excitement of laser tag. One things to keep in mind is that the laser blasters and vests can be heavy for younger kids. My girls were small, and the Planet Laser tag equipment was a little on the heavy side for them at 8 years old. I always suggest parents visit a laser tag centre before you commit to an event so you can test out the weight of the equipment.

Whether you’re a group of friends, a family looking for an awesome outing, or someone planning a fun team-building activity, lasertag offers an experience everyone can enjoy. Players strategize, communicate, and make their way through the maze-like battlegrounds, relying on teamwork and quick decision-making.

Each of these laser tag arenas make great destinations for a family outing or a birthday party or give a gift card for the ultimate experience gift.

Laser Tag Birthday Party For kids?

Birthday parties these arenas are a hit for numerous reasons. They offer a super cool game play setting where your birthday kid and their friends can enjoy friendly competition. The immersive nature of the game ensures everyone gets involved, creating lasting memories.

Tag venues often provide party packages, including private gaming sessions, reserved party areas for cake and celebrations, and sometimes even additional perks like arcade games or special effects lighting. I’ve held my kids parties at Planet Laser in Oakville and Splitsville laser tag in Burlington and recommend them both. We had a great time and so did our guests.

Indoor laser tag centers provide a controlled environment for gameplay, which makes them very popular locations to host birthday parties in the winter and rainy spring months. We’ve been to arenas that have cool themes and obstacles to use to your advantage, adding an extra layer of thrill to the gaming experience. The dimly lit settings with glow in the dark black lights and maze-like layout create an immersive and exciting feel for players.

Explore the immersive escape rooms across Hamilton, Burlington, and the Niagara. Whether it’s a family outing, a team-building exercise for colleagues, or a fun hangout with friends, these interactive adventures create lasting memories and provide a shared experience that encourages communication and cooperation.

What is an Escape Room?

Escape rooms are challenges where players solve puzzles and riddles to make their way through a themed plot and try to ‘escape’ within a set time limit. These games have themes that cater to every interest, offering cool challenges perfect for friends, families, or coworkers looking for great entertainment.

Players being their adventure locked in a room together. The rooms are often themed around mysteries, historical events, or science fiction settings. What is the objective? To solve the clues, decipher the codes, and piece together the puzzles cleverly hidden throughout the room.

With a time limit adding suspense, teamwork and quick thinking become essential to successfully completing the mission.

How Many People Do You Need?

The number of players you will need will vary based on the room you choose to complete, but these locations below offer games set up for 2 to 12 people. Normally 4 to 6 players is the magic number which allows for lots of brain power, without too many cooks in the kitchen.

What makes escape rooms such a fantastic activity is their ability to foster teamwork and problem-solving skills in an enjoyable setting. Participants must communicate effectively, pooling their diverse strengths and perspectives to conquer challenges. These rooms require critical thinking, encouraging players to approach problems creatively and work under pressure.

Moreover, escape rooms serve as an excellent group activity.

Arcades are exciting places where kids can immerse themselves in a world of fun and games. These spots are filled with rows of colourful machines that light up and buzz with excitement. Think of an arcade as a playground for video games!

But what exactly is an arcade? Well, it’s a place packed with various types of games that range from classic pinball machines to the latest cutting-edge video game consoles. Picture yourself surrounded by a variety of games that challenge your skills, test your reflexes, and most importantly, provide heaps of entertainment.

Arcades make a great destination for a team outing or a birthday party. Venues often offer great food and drink options, and cater to large groups regularly.

Playing video games can be a great way for kids to have fun, develop hand-eye coordination, and even learn problem-solving skills. Moderation is key, though! Just like enjoying a tasty treat, playing video games in moderation can be a good thing. It’s important to balance gaming with other activities, like outdoor play, reading, or spending time with friends and family.

Whether it’s competing in virtual races, embarking on epic adventures, or simply enjoying classic arcade games, these kid-friendly spots ensure a world of excitement and entertainment. Get ready to press start and dive into a world of gaming fun at these amazing arcades and gaming venues specially crafted for young gamers and fun loving parents!

We’ve also included some very cool eateries and arcade bars who offer video games at your table or in the restaurant. Here is one of our favourites.

What To Expect When You Visit

  • Every arcade in Ontario is completely unique. They will each have a different quantity and line up of games to choose from. If you;re looking for a specific game, call ahead and see if they have that one.
  • Some arcades still run on quarters (sorry, no more penny arcades!) and some run with credit card-like payments where you load an amount of money on the card and use the card to pay for game play. Video games are often priced as “credits”, so it takes 2 credits to play a game, etc.
  • Time of day will generally determine how busy the arcade will be. Kids should be ready to wait in line to play the newest and most popular games.

Bowling, an ageless activity blending sport and leisure, stands as a staple of fun across generations. every city is home to a bowling alley near you, filled with the sounds of pins clasttering and balls

We love 10 pin bowling because it’s not a sport you have to be good at to enjoy. When the girls were younger, we did a lot of 5 pin bowling with bumpers and loved every minute of it. Most alleys offer bumpers to block the “gutters” and they have ramps to help assist getting the heavy 10-pin balls down the alley.

Bowling is a sport that brings people of different ages and skills together. It’s not just about rolling a ball, but also about creating connections and having friendly competition. No matter the weather, bowling is a great way to escape the heat, the cold and it’s good for a rainy day too.

This article will help you find bowling places near you. This list includes local bowling alleys that have been in business for decades and more modern bowling centres like Splitsville Bowling, you’re sure to find a great spot to take the whole family soon.

Bowling is a fun indoor activity for all ages.Kids love bowling, while older people enjoy the competition and the opportunity to connect with loved ones. Don’t forget your grandparents, they’ve been bowling longer than you’ve been alive and just may show you a trick or two.

Tips For Bowling

  • Dress comfortably, bowling takes full body movements and you don’t want to feel constrained while you beat your friends.
  • Find the right weight ball to use. Many times, your lane will come stocked with some colour bowling balls, but that doesn’t mean you can’t scour the entertainment centre looking for one that fits just right.
  • Wear socks, but don’t worry about your shoes. The bowling alley will rent you a pair of specialized shoes that won’t scuff the lane’s slick finish.
  • Ten pin bowling is the kind you play with the larger bowling ball, and 5 pin bowling uses smaller balls that you can easily grip with one hand. Both games are a ton of fun, so choose your preference.
  • All of these locations offer kids bowling near Hamilton, Burlington and beyond. Young kids can join the fun using bumpers and ramps to help them score points.
