Shakespearience Free Dramatic Arts Summer Camp

Shakespearience is a charitable, non-profit organization whose mission is to deliver programs AT NO COST to students in Grades 3-12 which cross all age, academic, cultural, linguistic and socio-economic backgrounds. Since we began operations in 1998 we’ve established a track record for developing transferable soft skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, empathy, collaboration and teamwork by bolstering character, confidence and communication skills.   This is accomplished by showing how seemingly insurmountable challenges -- such as demystifying the language in Shakespeare’s plays -- can be overcome with a little persistence, concentration and team work.   The Shakespearience Summer Experience is offered during the month of July and targeted to young people in Grades 7 and up.  Certified teacher/actors, working with professionally trained Shakespearience artists, rehearse a group of participants in scenes from the plays tied together by a theme.  Specialists in the fields of stage combat, movement, voice improvisation along with actors from the Shakespearience roster visit to enhance the rehearsal process. The program ends with a presentation for family and friends on the final day of the program in a professional theatre followed by field trips to the Stratford and Shaw festivals.
