The Weekend Wrap Up is your weekly resource for everything family-friendly happening in your area. Spend this Father’s Day weekend with your favourite people in your favourite city! 




Bring your family out to Family Playfit and get active in the gym. Play different sports with other families and have fun! And if you picked up a free parks and rec pass from me at Kite Festival – you can use it at Play Fit!


Let your kids explore their creativity at the Michaels Kids Club. Choose from two projects designed specifically for your little maker’s age range. $2, ages 3-8 or $5, ages 6+, supplies are included. This week you’re making Father’s Day cards.


Catching bugs, building forts, finding nests and flying kites. The Family Nature Play Series at Mountsberg is an opportunity for your family to get outside, get their hands dirty and have fun playing in nature, with not a screen in sight. This series offers unstructured play time, so your children to explore the natural world around them, with just a bit of guidance from our interpreters.


Bring your little literature fan to the library for Story Time. 10:00 at Alton, or 10:30 at Central.


Grab the popcorn! It’s Family Favourites Movie time at Cineplex. For only $2.99 a person, you can take the fam to watch Justice League!


Springridge Farm is hosting their annual 2-day Father’s Day weekend Food Truck Festival! 12 food trucks over 2 days!


It’s Sat-ART-day at Alton library. Grab your friends and family and create some art using supplies from our Loose Parts table.





Burlington Art Gallery Open StudioThe Art Gallery of Burington is a favourite spot of ours, especially on Sundays when they open up their Creative Hub for a free, drop-in creative arts class. Kids use all mediums to create mini-masterpieces, and volunteer artisans are there to help guide and support.





york durham railwayTake a Father’s Day Heritage Train Ride! Today only, dads ride for half price! Is your dad a railfan? Then this experience is for him! This Father’s Day treat your dad to a ride through the Oak Ridges Moraine on-board the York-Durham Heritage Railway. Don’t forget to check out our doors open baggage-car!





Get Back to Nature with a free, guided hike with the Royal Botanical Gardens. Each week there is a new meeting place, and a new path to explore. This week’s meeting point is Cootes North Shore.


Join Fit in the Core every Sunday outside City Hall from featuring a different class & instructor each week from our downtown fitness providers! From yoga, to dance, to bootcamp, these classes are geared toward all fitness levels and all you need is your mat & water bottle.


Join Crawford Lake on Sunday, June 17th as they celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day. Learn about the incredible contributions of Canada’s Indigenous people to our country, at this family-friendly event. Learn about the Indigenous history of Ontario through traditional teachings, storytelling and drumming with Wawashkesh Drums.


Celebrate Father’s Day with Dad at Mountsberg. Search for frogs and dragonflies, dip a net for pond critters, search for pond critters, search for snakes and explore a swamp. Learn how to start a campfire and end the morning with a hot dog roast.
