SUMMARY:Family Day with the Gages
DESCRIPTION:Since 1796 the Gage family lived in what is now referred to as ‘Battlefield House\,’ which became a prosperous farmstead\, store\, and community hub. In June of 1813\, history was made when this otherwise unassuming family farm became the site of a turning point in the War of 1812. The Battle of Stoney Creek raged on the doorstep of the Gage family and after the British victory\, this marks the furthest American forces advanced into what is now Canada. The site now features a 100 foot Monument unveiled in 1913\, which marked 100 years of peace. More recently\, in 2013\, the Indigenous Eagles Among Us sculpture was created to represent Indigenous presence on the site and is dedicated to peace and reconciliation.   \nRegular museum admission applies.
