E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and Film Talk with HPO Composer-in-Residence

October 16, 2024 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

On October 16th at 7:00 PM, visit The Westdale for a family-friendly film talk with HPO Composer-in-Residence Abigail Richardson-Schulte, followed by a classic screening of “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial”. Presented in partnership with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra.

This event is in collaboration with the HPO’s Music of the Movies: Tribute to John Williams series, celebrating film music’s most widely honoured living composer, John Williams. Experience the lush symphonic style of his critically acclaimed movie scores as performed by your HPO, including beloved selections from E.T., Jaws, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and Jurassic Park, as well as the iconic themes and music from the Star Wars space opera epic.

After a gentle alien becomes stranded on Earth, the being is discovered and befriended by a young boy named Elliott (Henry Thomas). Bringing the extraterrestrial into his suburban California house, Elliott introduces E.T., as the alien is dubbed, to his brother and his little sister, Gertie (Drew Barrymore), and the children decide to keep its existence a secret. Soon, however, E.T. falls ill, resulting in government intervention and a dire situation for both Elliott and the alien.
