Spring has sprung in Burlington, so let’s do something great this weekend. Active Parents brings you the Weekend Wrap Up to help turn your spare time into quality time.

 

Saturday

 

Bring your family out to Family Playfit and get active in the gym. Play different sports with other families and have fun!

 

Let your kids explore their creativity at the Michaels Kids Club. Choose from two projects designed specifically for your little maker’s age range. $2, ages 3-8 or $5, ages 6+, supplies are included. Sessions starting every half hour from 10 am – 11:30 am.

 

It’s Comic Book Day at the BPL! Drop into your local library and take home a FREE comic book! One per person, while supplies last!

 

These ARE the droids you’re looking for! (My husband would be proud of that Star Wars reference! Drop into Droid Day at Indigo and get your R2D2 on! Includes a take-home craft droid.

 

Bring your little literature fan to the library for Story Time. 10:00 at Alton, or 10:30 at Central.

 

Grab the popcorn! It’s Family Favourites Movie time at Cineplex. For only $2.99 a person, you can take the fam to watch Ferdinand.

 

Drop into New Appleby library today for some hands-on fun exploring Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Perfect for kids ages 6-9, and no pre-registration required!

 

Join Medium Art Studio for your one-stop paint & shop for the perfect mothers day gift! We have Stella & Dot independent stylist Claudia and a selection of pieces to order for Mom & paint your own large tile box for Mom to put her new jewellery in!

 

It’s Sat-ART-day at Alton library. Grab your friends and family and create some art using supplies from our Loose Parts table.

 

Come out to the Burlington Lawn Bowling Club May 5 – May 11 every day at 1 pm and 7 pm to give lawn bowling a try for free! Wear flat soled shoes and learn this social, challenging game.

 

Don’t forget about drop-in ice skating, swimming and shinny hockey!

 

 

Sunday

 

The Art Gallery of Burington is a favourite spot of ours, especially on Sundays when they open up their Creative Hub for a free, drop-in creative arts class. Kids use all mediums to create mini-masterpieces, and volunteer artisans are there to help guide and support.

 

Visit Medium Art Studio from 12-3 and paint your own beautiful cake stand for Mom. Once it has been fired they’ll include 4 handpainted cookies with your favourite designs.

 

It’s time for Ireland House’s Lego Club! Get your scuba suits ready! There’s a whole other world under the sea, and kids will be taking a dive to explore it.  Build your own Lego boats to take us out into the middle of the sea. Explore the underwater wildlife, and make a moving fish! Drop kids off for 2 hours of fun!

 

Get Back to Nature with a free, guided hike with the Royal Botanical Gardens. Each week there is a new meeting place, and a new path to explore. This week’s meeting point is Cootes South Shore.

 

Check out the Learning Tree’s 3rd annual Create-a-Gift morning for those special ladies in your child’s life! This is a FREE event but you must pre-register to participate as supplies are limited.

 

Embrace the warmer temperatures and go for a swim! Indoors, but it still counts!
