Weekend Wrap Up – May 26-27, 2018
May 24, 2018 Amber Rohal

There is no shortage of fantastic ways to spend time with the fam this weekend – so pour yourself a cold drink, and pitter-patter, let’s get at ‘er!

Saturday

Beat the heat this weekend! The City of Burlington opens all of their spray pads for the season!

Bring your family out to Family Playfit and get active in the gym. Play different sports with other families and have fun!

Let your kids explore their creativity at the Michaels Kids Club. Choose from two projects designed specifically for your little maker’s age range. $2, ages 3-8 or $5, ages 6+, supplies are included. Sessions starting every half hour from 10 am – 11:30 am.

Bring your little literature fan to the library for Story Time. 10:00 at Alton, or 10:30 at Central.

It’s time for the 9th Annual Touch a Truck Event at the Ancaster Fairgrounds. Get up close and personal with vehicles of all descriptions. Meet the drivers. Ask all those questions you have been curious to know the answers to!

Touch-a-Truck is an annual event held by the City of Burlington during National Public Works Week. The event gives residents and their families an up-close look at a variety of city vehicles and recognizes Public Works employees for all of the work they do to help keep our community well maintained.

Let’s go to SpringFest! A free family event in the Warwick-Surrey Community.

Grab the popcorn! It’s Family Favourites Movie time at Cineplex. For only $2.99 a person, you can take the fam to watch Peter Rabbit.

Drop into New Appleby library today for some hands-on fun exploring Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Perfect for kids ages 6-9, and no pre-registration required!

It’s Sat-ART-day at Alton library. Grab your friends and family and create some art using supplies from our Loose Parts table.

Sunday

The Art Gallery of Burington is a favourite spot of ours, especially on Sundays when they open up their Creative Hub for a free, drop-in creative arts class. Kids use all mediums to create mini-masterpieces, and volunteer artisans are there to help guide and support.

Escape and Eat for MS invites you to enjoy music & delicious food from local food trucks, test yourself in the Mission Possible portable escape room, compete in fun contests, take photos with Burlington’s antique fire truck & let your kids explore some hands-on activities! ALl to benefit the MS Society of Canada.

Get Back to Nature with a free, guided hike with the Royal Botanical Gardens. Each week there is a new meeting place, and a new path to explore. This week’s meeting point is Cootes North Shore.

Embrace the warmer temperatures and go for a swim! Indoors, but it still counts!

Have a blast this weekend, and remember, if you found a new family event because of Active Parents, tell your friends about our page! And tag your pictures with #thingstodoinburlon and #activeparentsca to be featured on our social media! We owe this great site to YOU!
