Weekends are the best things sliced bread – so don’t let this one pass you by without doing something fabulous with your family!

 

Saturday

Popping up in City of Burlington parks, tobogganing hills, and neighbourhood rinks through the winter. Pop Up n’ Play is a play experience where children can explore, create, imagine and play in their own way. Staff will provide materials to foster unstructured play that allows children to explore and use their imaginations.

 

Ace Academy Flight Experience lets you pilot a First World War biplane using motion-sensing technology in this exciting interactive exhibit from the Canada Aviation and Space Museum.

 

Drop in and play at Duran Place for Kids – it’s a brand new spot, with those big blue blocks – the Imagination Playground – and an INDOOR sandbox room! Your kids will love it! Mine did!

 

Walking is good for your health. Thanks to Just Walk Hamilton-Burlington who organize a new outdoor community walking program led by local healthcare professionals with support from the City of Burlington.

 

Family Play Fit is the spot to be active together as a family. Enjoy and enhance your child’s FUNdamental Movement skills by trying out our Physical Literacy stations at your own pace.

 

Dundas Nature Play is a free family program geared towards parents and caregivers with children from birth to age six (and up!). Winter activities may include: den building, nature exploration (birds and animal tracks), and exploring snow! (We’ll also have a thermos of warm mint tea to share).

 

At the library, STEAM starts with Science! Hands-on fun exploring science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

 

It’s Sat-ART-day! Grab your Friends and family and create some art using supplies from our loose parts table.

 

Visit the new Spiders Alive! exhibit at Royal Botanical Gardens! Explore amazing adaptations and behaviours of spiders and other many-legged creatures in two interactive exhibits and daily programs for all ages.

 

The Michaels Kids Club is where your kids explore their creativity while you shop! Choose from two projects designed specifically for your little maker’s age range. Today the artists are making fingerprint bugs.

 

At Stoytime with Museums of Burlington, you’ll learn all about household life and farm chores done by the Ireland family, and spend interactive time with local artifacts. Storytime between 10:30 and 11, hands-on session with artifacts from 11-noon.

 

Read together! The library has multiple Story Time sessions happening today at a branch near you.

 

Cineplex’s $2.99 family favourite movies continue every Saturday at 11:00 a.m. It’s a fun and affordable way to enjoy time with your family and friends! This week the feature film is the suspenseful Johnny English Strikes Again.

 

Love to play basketball? Come practice your 3-pointer or work on your jump shot, youth can drop-in to shoot some hoops at Brant Hills Community Centre at 1 pm.

 

At Michaels Make Break workshops, families that paint together make memories together! Make some crunchy springtime slime, the supplies to decorate it will be provided.

Drop into the City of Burlington’s open gym time for families. This is your opportunity to shoot some hoops, practice your shots, and get in a little active time with your family. Ages 5-12 with an adult.

 

Learn to Needle Felt a Sheep at the ABG! In this 2 session class, you will learn to create a standing sheep figure without using a wire armature.

 

Open Studio at the Art Gallery of Burlington – Drop into this family-friendly creative space where kids and parents are encouraged to tap into their artistic side!

 

Each Sunday of the month our volunteer Back to Nature hike leaders offer free hikes through the vast ecosystems of RBG’s lands, allowing people to familiarize themselves with the area so they can continue to explore with their friends and family.

Shiny Recreation Hockey – Supervised recreational hockey allows youth the opportunity to participate in a game of pick-up hockey.

 

 

*Reminder: some activities require pre-registration, and some regular activities may be cancelled/rescheduled due to the Family Day holiday, so be sure to avoid disappointment by calling ahead!
