Each week, we bring you the best that Burlington (and the surrounding area) has to offer. Local events, fit for the whole family, right outside your door. Our calendar is jam-packed with events like these, every day of the week!

Saturday

The Brightside Initiative‘s drop in program is for children of all ages! They provide opportunities for children and their parents to engage in open ended, creative fun. Their creative curators are on the ground playing with the participants and helping to push the play forward!

 

Visit the RBG for the launch of their newest exhibit, Nature Connects. Nature Connects takes the beauty of the natural world and puts it on display using the world’s most popular building block, creating a fun and inspiring exhibit that teaches people of all ages the importance of connecting with nature.

 

Dads and their children have the chance to talk with other dads and kids, plus learn games and songs and play with their children at the OEYC Dad’s Program.

 

The Burlington Model Railway Club Open House is held at the Burlington Model Railway Club, at Hidden Valley Park, and you will see operating model railways in 3 different model scales: N-Scale and HO Scale inside, and G-scale outside!

 

The Shopkins and Lego Minifigure Swap at Burlington Indigo is your chance to bring your doubles and trade with other children!

 

Drop into the gym at Brant Hills this weekend for Play Fit with the family to explore new toys and equipment. Enjoy the experience and enhance your child’s FUNdamental Movement Skills.

 

Kids 3 and up can make an adorable plush craft at Michaels stores. Only $2 per child reserves 30 minutes for your creative kid to make a lovely keepsake of their family.

 

Forest Grove invites you and your family to attend our Summer Open House! With warm, attentive teachers, our Reggio Emilia curriculum promotes education through nature based exploration!

 

Surprise your kids with a big-screen viewing Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children at The Cineplex Family Favourite movies are only $2.99 each!

 

Join us on the grounds of the Oakville Museum for a free outdoor screening of ODDBALL — a fun Australian family film about a dog that saves a colony of endangered penguins.

 

 

Sunday

Active Parents will be at Burlington’s annual Kite Festival. Build a kite or bring your own and help fill the sky with colour. Join us for some free family fun, entertainment and vendors. Kite building materials are available, while supplies last.
The Art Gallery of Burlington’s Creative Hub is a drop-in art studio, which is designed for a variety of art making activities. My kids have done everything from painting and Plasticine, to screen printing and papier-mache. It’s a free drop in, and a definite hidden gem.

 

Take the whole family, to Be Yoga’s Fam Jam yoga class this weekend, where you will enjoy an hour on their mats. Fun games and interactive poses will invite everyone to connect together in healthy, positive ways.

 

Each week Yoga in the Park will feature a different, fully qualified volunteer instructor leading the masses in a peaceful practice. This week, gather at Hidden Valley Park with your mat and water.

Enjoy a guided hike through some of the most lovely trails in our city, and you won’t be disappointed. Each week there is a new meeting place, and a new path to explore. This week’s meeting point is Hendrie Valley.

 

Drop into Haber if the rain starts for their open court pick up basketball. All ages and skill levels welcome!
