Our little guy just turned 1. It’s a tough age to be during the wet and chilly Spring. He wants to be out of the stroller chasing his older brother but there’s that annoying issue of not actually being able to walk yet. He can walk holding on to railings, furniture, hands, etc. but even that is just too slow sometimes. He has places to BE and crawling is so efficient.
A few years ago I’d seen a similar age kid all wrapped up in a plastic suit and I thought it was a brilliant idea. Completely waterproof, it opened up a whole world of exploring for active pre-walkers. I have no problem with kids getting wet when it’s somewhat warm outside, but Spring around here is still pretty chilly and damp kids quickly turn into miserable kids (and parents!).
We went with the Muddy Buddy and it has kept our little guy dry and mobile all Spring. He has crawled through puddles, sat in soggy woodchips at the park, and climbed his brother’s collection of large sticks. The material is very durable. I particularly like the reinforced knees as he makes frequent treks across the driveway on all fours. And the dual zippers are nice, much less wrestling than putting on his snowsuit requires. His favourite part is the bag it came in, particularly wearing it like a hat.
